St. Paul’s Dorcas Group

In May 2007 the Parkend branch of the Mother's Union was fading fast and members felt no longer able to continue. So on 20th May a service was held in church for the closing of the MU branch and the opening of the new Dorcas Group,  The name was chosen from Chapter 9 Acts, verses 36-43, members feeling that Dorcas, if not a role model, was someone they could identify with,

The group meets once a month on a Tuesday afternoon at the home of a member, not always the same one but numbers mean that only two or three have enough room for everybody. Usually there is a short introduction, prayers and readings. Whenever possible there is a speaker, at other times a members' meeting for general discussion. This is followed by tea and biscuits. The meeting often ends in the saying of the Grace.

At each meeting members pay £1.00 to the treasurer, this being sent to charity at the end of the year. There is a church service during Lent and an outing in the summer.

The group is open to anyone who would like to attend.
